LISA HAMEL'S PICK OF THE MONTH |
| LEO'S PICK OF THE MONTH |
We are proud and honored to announce the arrival of the Glashutte Original watches. This world renowned watch line makes some of the finest watches in the world. My pick for this month is the Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Chronograph in stainless steel. The Sport Evolution has a 42mm finely brushed and high polished case and is water resistant to 10 ATM’s. This watch has a sporty yet sophisticated look that is great for both business and leisure. It also has an innovative clasp design which I will explain later. First, I would like to give you a history of Glashutte Original. Glashutte watches are hand-made in Germany. These watches are made in the historic town of Glashutte, Germany which has a long history of fine watch making. It’s not widely known that Germany had a thriving watch industry prior to WWII. Allied bombing along with Communist consolidation ended high-end watch production in Germany, but Glashutte continued to make mechanical watch throughout the Cold War. After the Berlin wall fell, both A. Lang & Son and Glashutte Original watch companies were re-established (Both companies had been merged into a State Conglomerate during the cold war). These two makers produce possibly the finest watches in the world. They equal ANY of the big houses from Switzerland. I toured the Glashutte factory in late August and was amazed. A thoroughly modern facility producing some of the finest wrist watches made anywhere today. Glashutte is a true "manufactory" which means it makes ALL its own movements. It does not buy base movements from other companies and modify them to their specifications like many watch factories. Every movement is their own original design and they produce it in house. Every screw is polished to perfection and every part made to the closest tolerances. Most have see-through backs so that you can see the amazing finishes applied to every part of the movement. Recently I "looped" (studied with a magnifying eye piece called a loop) several other BIG name watches from Switzerland (I mean the biggest names) and none were finer made than Glashutte. Not only are they hand-made to near perfection but Glashutte watches are highly advanced technically. Take for example the buckle on the Sport Evolution Chronograph. The buckle itself is a small machine. It is solidly built and has a built in ratchet system which allows 8 mm of final adjustment to be done mechanically within the buckle. This is NOT done by the use of a spring bar and instead is quite simple to operate. This innovative clasp makes it so easy to adjust to the wearer’s wrist in seconds. You have to see it in person to understand but you will surely be amazed at the ingenuity. You will also say, "Why didn't someone figure this out 59 years ago?" Please stop by and see these premium watches. I am sure you will be as impressed as I with their amazing quality and perfection. If you were going to own only one super high end timepiece, a Glashutte Original might be the perfect selection. Suggested Retail Price: $6700 Come and check it out!
