How the 4Cs Determine Price of Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are graded using the same 4Cs as with earth-mined diamonds: carat, color, clarity, and cut. The difference is how much you pay for each level of quality.
Carat (Size)

Diamond Color

In reality, all VS diamonds appear completely clean to the naked eye, as their inclusions are difficult to detect even under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist. Many SI1 diamonds are also eye-clean, although some may contain inclusions that can be seen without magnification depending on their size, type, and location.
For many buyers, SI clarity diamonds offer excellent value. Rather than paying a premium for higher clarity grades such as VVS or IF, it is often possible to choose an eye-clean SI diamond and allocate more of the budget toward a larger diamond, a higher color grade, or a superior cut.
